Reflexology is a non-intrusive, complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face, or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexology works holistically and treatments can be tailored to your individual needs and so helps the body to restore its balance naturally.
Before your first treatment, I will take a medical history and ask you to sign a consent form for the reflexology treatment, which is kept completely confidential. Reflexology involves you taking off your shoes and socks. I do normally gently clean your feet and use a natural or organic cream during the treatment. Not only do you benefit from the reflexology, but your feet will feel and smell lovely too. You may wish to talk during a treatment or you may wish to close your eyes, relax, and fall asleep, the choice is yours. Occasionally, you may feel areas of transient discomfort during the treatment, but generally, the experience should be relaxing.
After or during a treatment, I may ask you for feedback - if an area on the foot was uncomfortable during the treatment or how you felt when you got home. For example, relaxed? Slept well? No energy? This helps to plan the next treatment. Usually, after a treatment, you feel relaxed, notice yourself sleeping better, and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving. You may also find that other aspects improve too.
You may wish to opt for a one-off treatment or it may be more beneficial to have regular treatments initially, this will be discussed at your first session or when you enquire. As a reflexologist, I do not claim to cure, diagnose, or prescribe, and may advise you to see your GP or health professional prior to commencing treatment.
